3D stacking is great for memory but bad for GPU's and CPU's.Heat transfer is a big issue.unlike Intel AMD already had experience with stacking memory: HBM and HBM2. Intel needs to catch up and these plans are nothing new. It will take years. Maybe they have those years but i wouldn't be surpriced that AMD Will keep innovating and improving even when the are the fastest....

Unfortunately you aren't a physicist, but I am. All of what you said is nonsense. How tall or short a piece of metal is doesn't change it's overall heat conductivity. The volume to surface area ratio is what is key. They could easily 3D stack and have no issues with heat transfer as long as they keep the same volume to surface area ratio.

AMD plans to roll out its third generation Ryzen CPUs for PCs by the middle of the year. Early indications are that AMD's latest and greatest CPU may also give it a technological edge in another key area. At the Consumer Electronics show in January, AMD's Chief Executive Officer CEO Lisa Su showed off the soon-to-be released 8-core, third gen Ryzen CPU at a demo in which it outperformed Intel's Core i9-990K CPU, all while using less power.
