Targetting 70-90 on the event. Bond yields spiking will lead to the mother of all sell offs and problems globally.

don't invest in this trash. It is skewed by Algos and robo trading. The delta is terrible. It will take a nuclear war to move the niddle on the vix

I'm technically long volatility, but my portfolio still made money today, because of straddles. When you directly buy the VIX, it's very similar to just shorting the market it seems. Not the ideal approach in my view

Exactly. A decent straddle will save you and make money unless the price stays the same which is almost impossible lately. Im bearish and expect VIX to move higher but bought 3x1 $12 put to call straddle today after cashing out profitabbly on my 1 $14 call and leaving my 2 nearly worthless 14 puts for the 18th in play in case it goes up. You can make money ideally on both plays.

I just went long. Too many factors that might shake the markets in the coming months. Italy, Iran, Middle East in general. Also US elections, budget deficit, reporting season over foe now, unexpected events. Looking at last 12 months, VIX went down to as low as 8. That is acceptable to me. I will average all the way down to 8 if required.

Same here, and it's a total 180 from my former approach. I try to offset some of that decay by making directional plays protected by puts/calls.

Vix Experts.  What's a good etf (or leveraged etf) to short or long the vix.  I'm trading commodities and the vix looks like a great play in turbulent times. I plan on looking at the volumes to choose but not sure.

I mixed it up, it's the other way around. Also shorting the vix with etn is with futures. Since volatility came back it crashed.
