Intel is basically finished... removing the key head (like Pat or not) and replacing him at such a far point down the road is like a suicide mission. Realistically, what should or could the new person in charge really change anymore... high long term debts, lagging 2nd class designs, ailing manufacturing with poor volumes and margins especially on important leading edge nodes. The problem here is, changing any fundamentals here takes years, coupled with years of high uncertainity and investments. At this point it should be clear that chances to returning to anywhere near the all time high will be like close to zero.

Oh and the most important point, very high competition everywhere Intels goes which drives down ASPs and margins while increasing R&D at the same time.

I think you are right in many points but you grossly disregard that Intel does not and cannot exist in a vacuum. Intel is and will remain an essential US company. This means that even if all hell breaks lose the government cannot afford to let Intel wither away on its own accord since the exposure and the international trade risks associated with that scenario are just unbearable. Therefore there is a limit to the downside on Intel. Now I'm not saying that some new ATH is brewing in a couple of years but the current levels are just too low for the importance of this company. It will eventually return to 30-40 levels in my opinion, then any higher is just wishful thinking at this point in time, maybe in a couple of years time we will have more information and predictions can be made from there.
