Who is this guy? xDD They are downgrading in order to buy more shares of Intel then they will reupgrade ;) bcs they did talk just about IBM 2.0 which is a great idea against Chip shortage. They didn't mention Alder lake or Intel DG2 Gpus which will probaly come late this year they have no idea about Intel.

Good luck. Next quarter earnings report will be just worse than the last one, margins/PE/EPS will continue to lower due to strongly raised costs and lower ASPs. You dont have to be a fortune-teller to see that coming, that is the funny thing and yet people are misguided by emotions and false hopes. And remember foundry business (finger point at IDM2.0) is even less profitable as Intels current own main business is or was. Intel is basically selling quite some stuff but mostly low ASP products thus low margins. Effective margins in general wont recover before Q2-Q3/2022 based on their spendings, structural plans and currently weak road map for 2021. They need to reestablish their competitiveness in the high margin product segment. It's a pretty simple equation: road map equals competitive position equals ASP equals margins. But yes, you can try buying now and selling again before earnings - this bear trap trick worked now many times.

Can you explain, what is progressing nicely lol? The only (negative) progress I see is drastically raising costs, less buybacks, more competition, dropping asp, being behind schedule, actions with effect in 2-3 years, lower margins, fwd pe less attractive. Rumors even indicate that there are quite still some problems with Sapphire Rapids (quote: "hot buggy mess") and alder lake is supposed to be slower than anticipated by everyone. Reason: heavy time pressure. Thus will result in only more disappointment. GL.

From a technical perspective, I agree w Leo's take that it is oversold and due for abounce towards that level, how soon is a much tougher questions to answer. Using recent price movements, it took about 8-10 trading days on avg for INTC to move about 10% in the most recent sessions, I would allow about the same time frame for the bounce to happen, so I'm only in this for 2 weeks (10 trading days) to see if it happens.

I was more playing on his empty phrase in general. Intel is overvalued at current levels simple as that. Mostly because they will be still loosing shares a couple of more quarters to come and there is nothing they can do about it, its simple physics. Pat can't trick physics either. Margins will tank further. Bye Bye magical 60-65%. IDM2.0 will just push AMD even more since TSMC will rather favor AMD when it comes to splitting its total capacity. Hence anything over ~50 would be just expensive to get in. But hey what do I know as an ex-employee in the semi bizz :)And yes they can rise justified again some day, but this will not be tomorrow ***not even 2021 that is. Roadmap wise there is no potential to do so this year. Move your cash somewhere else, and comeback in Oct/Nov.

My advice, pay very close attention to AMDs Q1 earnings report tomorrow. It will tell you how much of Pats talk was empty talk especially in terms of its so called digesting in DC. I suspect that many customer simply dont want to get on IceLake and either they went with EPYCs or they are waiting for sapphire rapids in Q1/2022 (loong way to go).

Chip shortage was never a "real" problem for intel, it was rather helping them. On the contrary if global shortage is "fixed" its rather counterproductive for intel since their x86 solutions are currently often rather 2nd choice solutions. Hence price wars will increase, AVP drops, costs increase (trying to get on new nodes), margin drops. This will be the trend for a quite a while. If you think Q2 or Q3 or even Q4 might look better, wow u must be really wearing rose-colored glasses. Emotion get you nowhere at the stock market only pure facts will count at some point.

Au contraire, Intel is the least affected by the chip shortage. Their products are on the shelves with high numbers, while many AMD products are sold out. This is where Intel's own manufacturing capacity pays off, while AMD relies on TSMC. This has helped Intel to maintain good market share on client side (while server is tanking).
