Data coming in 20 minutes... best time to close trades or hedge. This pair typically drops on data releases... before it starts climbing again... I place buys on the drops.

Dayle Backus Ok lets do basic statistics on the CPI data ill just do CPI and not retail.  the average read on the CPI MOM comes out to a 0.2% but the year on year drops to 1.1% Now they raised rates to 1.5% to contain the Core that measures last read 2.2% the forecast is 2.4% 2 BP higher than the last read now I dont think that the rate hike will affect this read but 2.4% looks like a miss I would be surprised that it would hit 2.3% looks more a stay at 2.2% or a drop . now as in theory a lower currency raises inflation  and as I thought  last CPI data I went short but it was mixed data due to retail sales that only twice it hit 1 above forecast 1 inline overall the read was not good for the CAD. If this would be different well retail is ussaly good in the summer time more consumer spending on the kids ex. but a read of 0.7% from a previous of -0.1 that's really overshooting. The only thing that I can conclude it either a mix report or a bad report manage your risk man

If this does not reach 1.325 tomorrow, then we'll get to 1.30 by friday or next week.  If it does get to 1.325 we might stay in that range until something positive comes from NAFTA...

Ran Dee Good train of thought, but I just still don't buy this super dollar.  I think we have to see a good fall soon especially with the trade war; a strong USD is equivalent to losing the trade war for the US.

Carlos Jimenez 1st you need to know that the U.S is more consumer based economy you can see that for more than 30Y the trade deficit has been going on. Next the trade war hasnt yet hit the economy and wont be that fast . If you listen to the testimony of Powel yesterday The U.S is in a accelerated growth cycle a senator  mentioned that it happened 3 times in the U.S history and this growth cycle is the biggest since the 1800s.  1.30 isnt a far target but it doesn't mean that the USD is weak. What also you need to take into consideration is that the USD got its safe haven status back do to high yield when any news you see about trade the indexes drop and money goes into the USD not Gold not JPY not CHF USD and U.S bonds .so not to buy USD is very foolish

Dayle Backus Once you look past the politics then maybe you can make one accurate call told you yesterday not going to fall just price in the Powel testimony. If you put aside what you think about one political official or another its easier to make more money and better calls  . One day you will get it
