Ghana and neighbouring Ivory Coast are likely to start a joint announcement of prices for cocoa beans at the last quarter of this year..The two countries have separate periods of announcing their prices for which cocoa farmers are to sell a tonne of cocoa..This has led to a lot of smuggling issues because when the price of one country is higher than the other, farmers hord the beans smuggle it to the other country and sell for more profit.CEO of COCOBOD Joseph Aidoo said this will go a long way to improve the cocoa farming business.."It prevents speculators from doing speculative buying in cocoa and hording with the intent of smuggling and again also is sought to affect the smuggling gap ones the gap is narrowed it makes it a disincentive for smugglers to try and smuggle cocoa across the border, the announcement of the price the same time works in favour of both country." No, it doesn't look good for the moment, but in the lower end of the range, I would look for buys around here and 2160-70.

COCOBOD and its counterpart in Ivory Coast, the Le CONSEIL DU CAFÉ-CACOA have signed an agreement towards developing their own standards for exported cocoa beans.Speaking to JoyBusiness in Ivory Coast, Chief Executive Officer of COCOBOD, Josphe Boahene Aidoo said the deal is very important because it would ensure that farmers would get better value for their produce.

Range down to $80. Something's going to give next break of 2270 or 2170 I think.

price has more potential to go down than up. there is a huge wick on the daily that went down till 1901.  it will fill the wick in next few days.  .amazing that I had a sell and it touched it but was not closed.  I wonder what happened that the program did not take the hit and went back up. .my position still open and hanging whereas should have been closed!!!

Willie Booker I'm bullish when Cocoa get sold off like it has past weeks, besides that we're at the lower end of the trading range since last year. You can find some good information about the Cocoa market in my recent posts too.

JH_Greenmore I'm also thinking that in long term we'll be higher. Just wondering where is a good time to enter. I'm very confused about GBP price which is not what I expected in face of hard Brexit. The Pound has to big impact on CC price right now.

Farmers in IC concerned about the mid-crop "Below average rainfall in most of Ivory Coast’s cocoa growing regions last week has raised concern about the April-to-September mid-crop, farmers said on Monday..Ivory Coast, the world’s top cocoa producer, is entering the rainy season, which runs officially from mid-March to late October...Farmers in the bush said there were plenty of pods on the trees to be harvested by June, but that abundant rainfall was needed for cherelles and small pods to develop, and the mid-crop’s harvest to extend until August."

Mar 12 - Daily Cocoa Market report. With a range of just GBP 23, it was the lowest volatility in the cocoa market for over a month. May 19 traded uninspired between GBP 1659 and GBP 1682 and ended the day slightly weaker at GBP -5 at GBP 1666 due to currency movements. 3 days before the last trading day of March 19, the March / May 19 spread plummeted to a low of GBP -39, with an open interest of over 25,000 lots to be expected. The British Pound remains very strong in view of today's renewed vote. Official CCC arrivals on 28 February were 1.359 million mt vs. 1.424 million mt from 17/18 (+8.1%

"Cocoa continues to trade in a range from $2000 to $2400 per ton. Eventually, the price will break out of its trading band. Given the uncertainty of the annual crop, growing global demand for chocolate, and political and economic concerns in the region of the world that is responsible for almost 70% of the world's supplies, I believe that the odds favor higher prices over the coming months and years."
