Germany stocks mixed at close of trade; DAX up 0.34%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Chemicals and Transportation & Logistics sectors led shares higher while losses in the Consumer & Cyclical, Retail and Software sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.34% to hit a new 52-week high, while the MDAX index lost 0.26%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.70%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN), which rose 2.31% or 1.50 points to trade at 66.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Covestro AG (DE:1COV) added 1.66% or 0.760 points to end at 46.670 and Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) was up 1.65% or 0.260 points to 15.995 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN), which fell 2.20% or 6.15 points to trade at 274.00 at the close. Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) declined 1.29% or 1.60 points to end at 122.50 and Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG) was down 1.19% or 1.25 points to 103.55.

The top performers on the MDAX were Gerresheimer AG (DE:GXIG) which rose 3.29% to 69.000, Knorr-Bremse AG (DE:KBX) which was up 3.24% to settle at 92.18 and Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which gained 3.07% to close at 26.840.

The worst performers were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was down 8.82% to 92.550 in late trade, CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which lost 3.61% to settle at 52.050 and Fuchs Petrolub AG VZO Pref (DE:FPEG_p) which was down 3.29% to 33.540 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which rose 3.45% to 5.990, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was up 1.69% to settle at 79.260 and SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which gained 1.39% to close at 27.680.

The worst performers were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was down 8.82% to 92.550 in late trade, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which lost 2.88% to settle at 172.000 and Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was down 2.56% to 46.500 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 341 to 322 and 93 ended unchanged.

Shares in SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) rose to 52-week highs; up 1.39% or 0.380 to 27.680.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.84% to 14.34 a new 1-month low.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.53% or 7.95 to $1495.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.73% or 0.94 to hit $55.42 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.57% or 0.94 to trade at $60.64 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.02% to 1.1121, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.8634.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 97.312.
