Serg Castro My understanding is we can have a 20% drop if Canada and the US agree on new terms which would remove the US tariff placed in late 2017.  If the agreement collapses, tariffs remain in effect.

Destin Richter i agree with you 100%   what i dont get is that if things stay the same why would it rally....now if trump raises tarifts to 40 % or something then i can see a rally....but that would then hurt housing....so i see no reason at all for a rally.......so you know what that means......500 lumber here we come...

Serg, seeing the limit down in lumber - are you still long?  I'd love to learn more about your approach and methodology on options; look me up to make contact.  My wheat (and now corn) are suffering but the feeling at this point is we are bottoming out.  I'm still watching lumber but really don't plan on selling unless we were to spike up near 500.

Lumber is very illiquid and very volatile. Easy to get stuck in wrong direction, just take 10 contracts to limit up or down.

Serg, what's the latest? What are your positions? My Nov soybean shorts are not tanking yet (I'm usually early to the party) but with wheat having fallen in the last few days, I'm picking up 2 contracts long, maybe 4, and scaling down to 1 soybean short.  Will short Jan lumber if we make any decent highs but otherwise am out.

Serg Castro Bold man! I'd love to sell options but am not sure I have the skills yet.  Do you buy or sell the underlying futures contract (to be covered) if the put/call price gets too dicey?

Destin Richter   nope just naked ..trying to collect some premiun.....as long as you deal in liquid options you can cover real quick....80% of theses trades are profitable ....but in this case its a loser...and im about to get out.....once the option doubles...i pull the trigger....hedging with futures would defeat  the purpose...your hog trade is interesting...but we may be way early....wait for a big wash out....

8/9/18 - Here we are, Sept lumber in the low 400's.  That was faster than I had anticipated.  Good job, again, Serg on riding it down as far as you did.  You caught a good 50 ticks more than me.  I'm out of corn as of a few days ago after watching the congestion at resistance.  Tried to go long hogs but too early and got stopped out.  Neutral for now and watching.
