Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 1.59%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were PIK (MCX:PIKK), which rose 2.07% or 3.90 points to trade at 192.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) added 1.96% or 11.20 points to end at 583.00 and NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) was up 1.51% or 1.02 points to 68.78 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were RDR United Company RUSAL PLC (MCX:RUALR), which fell 5.47% or 18.00 points to trade at 311.00 at the close. DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY) declined 5.31% or 23.00 points to end at 410.00 and AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) was down 4.14% or 5150 points to 119100.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 121 to 59 and 7 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 3.51% to 34.360 a new 3-months low.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.62% or 7.40 to $1182.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.13% or 1.30 to hit $59.63 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 1.96% or 1.32 to trade at $66.44 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 1.34% to 50.263, while EUR/RUB fell 1.69% to 56.772.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.59% at 94.75.
