Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Power, Manufacturing and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 1.28%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were GidroOGK-011D (MCX:HYDR), which rose 8.15% or 0.0442 points to trade at 0.5863 at the close. Meanwhile, E.ON Russia (MCX:EONR) added 7.80% or 0.2340 points to end at 3.2340 and Gruppa Cherkizovo ao (MCX:GCHE) was up 5.82% or 40.0 points to 727.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS), which fell 4.88% or 3.180 points to trade at 62.020 at the close. SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) declined 3.39% or 2.27 points to end at 64.70 and Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO) was down 2.93% or 0.0326 points to 1.0794.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 128 to 61 and 4 ended unchanged.
Shares in E.ON Russia (MCX:EONR) rose to all time highs; up 7.80% or 0.2340 to 3.2340.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 3.34% to 40.270.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.46% or 5.50 to $1199.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.79% or 0.41 to hit $52.05 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.74% or 0.43 to trade at $59.38 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 1.62% to 52.506, while EUR/RUB fell 2.28% to 55.534.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.13% at 99.76.
