Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Power, Mining and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 0.64%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF), which rose 3.59% or 29.10 points to trade at 839.00 at the close. Meanwhile, NMTP (MCX:NMTP) added 3.47% or 0.2100 points to end at 6.2600 and AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) was up 3.46% or 0.770 points to 23.000 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were PIK (MCX:PIKK), which fell 3.00% or 8.90 points to trade at 287.70 at the close. United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL) declined 2.31% or 0.690 points to end at 29.200 and Megion (MCX:MFGS) was down 1.36% or 8.0 points to 582.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 114 to 91 and 26 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.81% to 23.340.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.28% or 3.55 to $1254.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.59% or 0.30 to hit $50.30 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.67% or 0.36 to trade at $53.17 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.02% to 56.2800, while EUR/RUB fell 0.52% to 60.019.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 100.48.
