Germany stocks mixed at close of trade; DAX up 0.70%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Insurance, Industrials and Telecoms sectors led shares higher while losses in the Consumer & Cyclical, Technology and Transportation & Logistics sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.70% to hit a new 1-month high, while the MDAX index climbed 0.37%, and the TecDAX index declined 1.18%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn), which rose 4.54% or 8.70 points to trade at 200.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) added 4.79% or 4.92 points to end at 107.60 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) was up 4.76% or 6.84 points to 150.56 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN), which fell 6.21% or 18.60 points to trade at 280.90 at the close. Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) declined 4.59% or 6.200 points to end at 128.980 and Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE:DPWGn) was down 4.39% or 1.780 points to 38.780.

The top performers on the MDAX were Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which rose 11.09% to 48.240, Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which was up 9.82% to settle at 78.300 and Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (DE:AT1) which gained 9.62% to close at 5.196.

The worst performers were Puma SE (DE:PUMG) which was down 5.60% to 79.63 in late trade, Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which lost 4.93% to settle at 9.887 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was down 4.67% to 351.000 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which rose 15.26% to 15.480, TeamViewer AG (DE:TMV) which was up 4.51% to settle at 37.05 and Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which gained 4.03% to close at 17.027.

The worst performers were Jenoptik AG (DE:JENGn) which was down 7.10% to 22.520 in late trade, Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which lost 4.93% to settle at 9.887 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was down 4.67% to 351.000 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 349 to 317 and 27 ended unchanged.

Shares in Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) rose to 3-years highs; rising 15.26% or 2.050 to 15.480.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.85% to 26.74.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.59% or 29.50 to $1883.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.37% or 0.55 to hit $40.84 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.30% or 0.55 to trade at $42.95 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.00% to 1.1813, while EUR/GBP fell 0.41% to 0.8935.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 92.760.
