Germany stocks mixed at close of trade

Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Utilities, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Technology sectors led shares higher while losses in the Food & Beverage, Construction and Basic Resources sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.04% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index fell 0.38%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.26%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (XETRA:FMEG), which rose 5.24% or 3.430 points to trade at 68.930 at the close. Meanwhile, E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn) added 2.52% or 0.350 points to end at 14.245 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (XETRA:FREG) was up 2.40% or 1.160 points to 49.395 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG), which fell 2.54% or 5.450 points to trade at 209.000 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (XETRA:CBKG) declined 2.42% or 0.295 points to end at 11.900 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG) was down 1.56% or 0.210 points to 13.245.

The top performers on the MDAX were LEG Immobilien AG (XETRA:LEGn) which rose 1.15% to 74.550, Gerresheimer AG (XETRA:GXId) which was up 1.14% to settle at 52.450 and Talanx AG NA O.N. (XETRA:TLXGn) which gained 1.14% to close at 28.390.

The worst performers were Tag Immobilien AG (XETRA:TEGG) which was down 2.07% to 12.065 in late trade, Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (XETRA:BOSSn) which lost 1.99% to settle at 115.900 and Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ZILGn) which was down 1.84% to 30.860 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which rose 5.04% to 120.900, Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which was up 5.04% to settle at 6.173 and SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which gained 3.43% to close at 12.200.

The worst performers were CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (XETRA:COPMa) which was down 4.24% to 27.440 in late trade, Freenet AG NA (XETRA:FNTGN) which lost 2.70% to settle at 26.170 and Cancom SE O.N. (XETRA:COKG) which was down 2.57% to 37.315 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 381 to 351 and 36 ended unchanged.

Shares in Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (XETRA:FMEG) rose to all time highs; gaining 5.24% or 3.430 to 68.930. Shares in LEG Immobilien AG (XETRA:LEGn) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.15% or 0.850 to 74.550. Shares in Talanx AG NA O.N. (XETRA:TLXGn) rose to all time highs; rising 1.14% or 0.320 to 28.390. Shares in Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 5.04% or 0.296 to 6.173.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.32% to 15.72 a new 1-month low.

Gold for April delivery was up 0.49% or 5.90 to $1203.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in April rose 1.30% or 0.64 to hit $49.92 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract rose 2.21% or 1.29 to trade at $59.95 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.15% to 1.1358, while EUR/GBP fell 0.14% to 0.7328.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.24% at 94.29.
