Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Utilities, Construction and Insurance sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.64%, while the MDAX index lost 1.51%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.12%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER), which rose 6.10% or 1.56 points to trade at 27.14 at the close. Meanwhile, Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN) added 4.07% or 2.36 points to end at 60.40 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) was up 3.12% or 0.83 points to 27.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (ETR:BMWG), which fell 7.88% or 6.48 points to trade at 75.78 at the close. Merck KGaA (ETR:MRCG) declined 5.63% or 9.55 points to end at 160.00 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) was down 5.27% or 17.40 points to 312.60.
The top performers on the MDAX were Stroeer SE (ETR:SAXG) which rose 3.93% to 52.85, Fraport AG (ETR:FRAG) which was up 2.35% to settle at 48.27 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:O2Dn) which gained 1.78% to close at 2.97.
The worst performers were Varta AG (ETR:VAR1) which was down 9.04% to 73.02 in late trade, Sixt SE (ETR:SIXG) which lost 8.84% to settle at 113.40 and Aurubis AG (ETR:NAFG) which was down 8.56% to 82.64 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which rose 8.24% to 48.88, S&T AG (ETR:SANT1) which was up 4.04% to settle at 16.21 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) which gained 3.12% to close at 27.60.
The worst performers were Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (ETR:EUZG) which was down 9.38% to 39.42 in late trade, Varta AG (ETR:VAR1) which lost 9.04% to settle at 73.02 and Suse SA (ETR:SUSEG) which was down 7.81% to 26.92 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 474 to 231 and 62 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) fell to 52-week lows; losing 5.27% or 17.40 to 312.60. Shares in Varta AG (ETR:VAR1) fell to 52-week lows; losing 9.04% or 7.26 to 73.02. Shares in Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (ETR:EUZG) fell to 52-week lows; down 9.38% or 4.08 to 39.42. Shares in Varta AG (ETR:VAR1) fell to 52-week lows; losing 9.04% or 7.26 to 73.02.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.64% to 31.00.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.55% or 28.82 to $1,824.88 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.20% or 0.21 to hit $105.92 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.12% or 0.13 to trade at $107.38 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.34% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP fell 0.86% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.93% at 104.85.
