Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Transportation & Logistics, Financial Services and Industrials sectors led shares higher while losses in the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare, Technology and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.47%, while the MDAX index gained 1.19%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.10%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG), which rose 4.08% or 1.960 points to trade at 49.960 at the close. Meanwhile, Covestro AG (DE:1COV) added 3.66% or 1.210 points to end at 34.230 and Deutsche Wohnen AG (DE:DWNG) was up 3.45% or 1.460 points to 43.770 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG), which fell 6.03% or 2.570 points to trade at 40.085 at the close. Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) declined 3.42% or 2.570 points to end at 72.560 and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG) was down 3.11% or 1.800 points to 56.020.
The top performers on the MDAX were Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) which rose 7.11% to 8.198, K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which was up 5.69% to settle at 6.320 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which gained 5.55% to close at 23.780.
The worst performers were Metro Wholesale & Food Specialist AG (DE:B4B) which was down 3.61% to 7.9680 in late trade, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which lost 3.21% to settle at 2.295 and Qiagen NV (DE:QIA) which was down 3.13% to 39.940 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were S&T AG (DE:SANT1) which rose 3.22% to 23.74, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was up 3.14% to settle at 91.850 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COP1n) which gained 2.16% to close at 75.600.
The worst performers were Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was down 3.21% to 2.295 in late trade, Qiagen NV (DE:QIA) which lost 3.13% to settle at 39.940 and Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was down 3.08% to 163.40 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 409 to 255 and 85 ended unchanged.
Shares in Deutsche Wohnen AG (DE:DWNG) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 3.45% or 1.460 to 43.770.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.68% to 25.66.
Gold Futures for October delivery was up 1.52% or 30.55 to $2039.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.41% or 0.59 to hit $42.29 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.87% or 0.83 to trade at $45.26 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.67% to 1.1879, while EUR/GBP rose 0.19% to 0.9045.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.70% at 92.725.
