Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Mining, Oil & Gas and Manufacturing sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 1.41%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were FSK EES (MCX:FEES), which rose 7.25% or 0.0073 points to trade at 0.1077 at the close. Meanwhile, ANK Bashneft OAO Pref (MCX:BANE_p) added 6.61% or 123.0 points to end at 1983.0 and Moskovskaya Birzha OAO (MCX:MOEX) was up 2.94% or 3.00 points to 105.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK), which fell 6.27% or 5.60 points to trade at 83.65 at the close. MMK (MCX:MAGN) declined 4.57% or 1.085 points to end at 22.650 and Tatneft OAO Pref (MCX:TATN_p) was down 3.91% or 7.50 points to 184.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 133 to 98 and 23 ended unchanged.
Shares in FSK EES (MCX:FEES) rose to 52-week highs; rising 7.25% or 0.0073 to 0.1077. Shares in ANK Bashneft OAO Pref (MCX:BANE_p) rose to all time highs; up 6.61% or 123.0 to 1983.0.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 1.25% to 37.210.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.88% or 11.35 to $1280.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.34% or 0.15 to hit $43.80 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.38% or 0.17 to trade at $44.80 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 2.92% to 66.5393, while EUR/RUB fell 0.05% to 76.496.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.25% at 93.25.
