Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Manufacturing, Oil & Gas and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 0.87%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS), which rose 3.06% or 0.560 points to trade at 18.880 at the close. Meanwhile, NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) added 2.43% or 1.78 points to end at 75.00 and Akron (MCX:AKRN) was up 2.37% or 52.0 points to 2247.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were SG mechel (MCX:MTLR), which fell 3.35% or 2.44 points to trade at 70.40 at the close. Surgut (MCX:SNGS) declined 2.36% or 0.820 points to end at 33.900 and PIK (MCX:PIKK) was down 2.28% or 4.20 points to 180.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 113 to 75 and 8 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.32% to 33.600.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.55% or 6.50 to $1177.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.49% or 0.90 to hit $61.28 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 2.09% or 1.32 to trade at $64.67 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.31% to 54.095, while EUR/RUB fell 1.27% to 60.446.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.20% at 95.65.
