Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Mining and Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 0.85%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were MMK (MCX:MAGN), which rose 5.02% or 1.135 points to trade at 23.740 at the close. Meanwhile, Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRO) added 3.26% or 31 points to end at 981 and Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) was up 1.75% or 1.37 points to 79.87 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF), which fell 4.93% or 35.60 points to trade at 686.40 at the close. NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) declined 4.25% or 3.70 points to end at 83.40 and MTS (MCX:MTSS) was down 3.45% or 9.05 points to 253.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 138 to 72 and 25 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 2.03% to 36.250.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.34% or 4.25 to $1262.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.39% or 1.04 to hit $44.48 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 3.85% or 1.68 to trade at $45.31 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.44% to 66.2394, while EUR/RUB fell 0.53% to 75.474.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 94.18.
