Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Mining, Power and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 0.29%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Sollers (MCX:SVAV), which rose 5.90% or 22.0 points to trade at 395.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE) added 4.05% or 75.0 points to end at 1925.0 and MegaFon OAO (MCX:MFON) was up 3.23% or 31.00 points to 992.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were VTB (MCX:VTBR), which fell 3.47% or 0.0022 points to trade at 0.0601 at the close. NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) declined 2.86% or 2.20 points to end at 74.69 and AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) was down 2.66% or 0.470 points to 17.230.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 102 to 100 and 7 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 2.32% to 41.410.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.62% or 7.60 to $1211.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 2.61% or 1.36 to hit $53.50 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 1.14% or 0.67 to trade at $58.78 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.80% to 55.023, while EUR/RUB fell 1.87% to 59.709.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.72% at 97.90.
