Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Manufacturing, Mining and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 1.24%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were PIK (MCX:PIKK), which rose 6.52% or 9.70 points to trade at 158.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) added 4.51% or 18.50 points to end at 429.00 and Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p) was up 3.87% or 1.300 points to 34.900 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were MegaFon OAO (MCX:MFON), which fell 3.07% or 23.00 points to trade at 725.00 at the close. Mostotrest (MCX:MSTT) declined 2.47% or 2.20 points to end at 87.00 and Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE) was down 1.64% or 31.0 points to 1857.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 114 to 62 and 14 ended unchanged.
Shares in MegaFon OAO (MCX:MFON) fell to 52-week lows; down 3.07% or 23.00 to 725.00.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.73% to 34.420.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.24% or 2.60 to $1094.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.52% or 0.72 to hit $48.11 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.23% or 0.12 to trade at $53.59 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.79% to 60.090, while EUR/RUB fell 0.16% to 66.454.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.19% at 96.81.
