Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Power, Oil & Gas and Manufacturing sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 1.20%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were RusHydro JSC (MCX:HYDR), which rose 3.65% or 0.0194 points to trade at 0.5514 at the close. Meanwhile, Sberbank (MCX:SBER) added 3.06% or 2.15 points to end at 72.35 and AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) was up 2.90% or 3800 points to 134800 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR), which fell 1.72% or 36.0 points to trade at 2060.0 at the close. LSR (MCX:LSRG) declined 1.55% or 9.0 points to end at 572.0 and ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) was down 1.22% or 0.780 points to 63.000.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 104 to 89 and 12 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 4.23% to 33.760.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.42% or 5.00 to $1174.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.39% or 0.81 to hit $59.14 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 2.09% or 1.29 to trade at $63.30 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.79% to 55.246, while EUR/RUB fell 1.73% to 61.589.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.63% at 95.67.
