Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Mining, Telecoms and Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 0.35%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were RusHydro JSC (MCX:HYDR), which rose 4.52% or 0.0300 points to trade at 0.6935 at the close. Meanwhile, NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) added 3.97% or 3.57 points to end at 93.53 and Magnit (MCX:MGNT) was up 3.71% or 375.0 points to 10475.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Moskovskaya Birzha OAO (MCX:MOEX), which fell 2.43% or 2.85 points to trade at 114.50 at the close. United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL) declined 2.09% or 0.500 points to end at 23.450 and Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) was down 1.64% or 5.30 points to 317.70.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 120 to 112 and 26 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 2.06% to 25.710 a new 52-week low.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.04% or 0.50 to $1327.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.02% or 0.44 to hit $42.69 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $44.92 a barrel.
USD/RUB was unchanged 0.00% to 65.9448, while EUR/RUB fell 0.02% to 72.411.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 97.17.
