Mexico stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 1.66%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Telecoms Services, Industrials and Financial Services sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC added 1.66% to hit a new 1-month high.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Cementos De Chihuahua (MX:GCC), which rose 4.74% or 4.800 points to trade at 105.970 at the close. Meanwhile, America Movil SAB de CV (MX:AMXL) added 4.59% or 0.660 points to end at 15.050 and Banco Del Bajio SA Institution De Banca Multiple (MX:BBAJIOO) was up 4.17% or 1.610 points to 40.230 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV (MX:LABB), which fell 1.86% or 0.260 points to trade at 13.750 at the close. Grupo Financiero Inbursa , SAB De CV (MX:GFINBURO) declined 1.33% or 0.390 points to end at 28.850 and Megacable Holdings, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:MEGACPO) was down 1.18% or 1.060 points to 88.790.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 176 to 86 and 23 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.28% or 3.65 to $1286.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.14% or 1.04 to hit $49.56 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 2.06% or 1.18 to trade at $58.51 a barrel.

USD/MXN was up 0.12% to 19.3783, while EUR/MXN fell 0.17% to 22.1698.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 95.507.
