Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, IT and Carbon sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.02%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.03%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI), which rose 4.53% or 51.35 points to trade at 1184.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) added 3.32% or 11.15 points to end at 346.15 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) was up 1.66% or 20.25 points to 1240.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN), which fell 8.51% or 36.30 points to trade at 390.75 at the close. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) declined 6.47% or 21.50 points to end at 311.15 and GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL) was down 3.28% or 10.90 points to 322.15.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which rose 4.34% to 1182.95, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was up 1.41% to settle at 1237.35 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which gained 1.02% to close at 964.50.
The worst performers were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 8.52% to 390.75 in late trade, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which lost 6.42% to settle at 310.95 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which was down 2.07% to 1318.25 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1111 to 456 and 72 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1605 fell and 858 advanced, while 155 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.31% to 16.6175.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.58% or 7.55 to $1284.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.34% or 0.70 to hit $52.77 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.26% or 0.77 to trade at $61.95 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.14% to 71.135, while EUR/INR rose 0.24% to 81.1385.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 95.703.
