Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 1.43%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Technology, Consumer & Cyclical and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 1.43%, while the MDAX index declined 1.50%, and the TecDAX index fell 1.75%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p), which rose 5.46% or 6.000 points to trade at 115.900 at the close. Meanwhile, Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) fell 0.63% or 0.500 points to end at 78.450 and K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) was down 0.72% or 0.175 points to 24.065 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn), which fell 4.56% or 0.540 points to trade at 11.295 at the close. Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) declined 3.98% or 0.535 points to end at 12.910 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) was down 3.08% or 2.430 points to 76.480.

The top performers on the MDAX were MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) which rose 0.84% to 86.330, Hochtief AG (DE:HOTG) which was up 0.54% to settle at 87.790 and Kabel Deutschland Holding AG O.N. (DE:KD8Gn) which gained 0.30% to close at 115.250.

The worst performers were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was down 5.41% to 80.810 in late trade, Duerr AG O.N. (DE:DUEG) which lost 3.32% to settle at 76.830 and Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (DE:GWIG) which was down 3.07% to 14.500 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (DE:PSAGn) which rose 2.15% to 12.850, Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which was up 1.05% to settle at 72.860 and LPKF Laser & Electronics (DE:LPKG) which gained 0.89% to close at 8.250.

The worst performers were Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was down 4.82% to 10.560 in late trade, Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which lost 4.75% to settle at 163.550 and Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which was down 3.56% to 43.400 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 519 to 173 and 30 ended unchanged.

Shares in Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) fell to 52-week lows; down 5.41% or 4.620 to 80.810.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 6.34% to 21.63.

Gold for December delivery was up 0.84% or 9.00 to $1075.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 3.38% or 1.41 to hit $43.16 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 3.38% or 1.51 to trade at $46.34 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.22% to 1.0660, while EUR/GBP rose 0.76% to 0.7076.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.27% at 99.57.
