Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Insurance, Retail and Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 2.15% to hit a new 3-months high, while the MDAX index climbed 1.53%, and the TecDAX index added 1.39%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn), which rose 7.67% or 1.845 points to trade at 25.910 at the close. Meanwhile, Allianz SE VNA O.N. (DE:ALVG) added 3.86% or 6.250 points to end at 168.000 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) was up 3.84% or 4.450 points to 120.350 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which rose 1.02% or 0.105 points to trade at 10.375 at the close. SAP AG O.N. (DE:SAPG) added 1.11% or 0.820 points to end at 74.410 and Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) was up 1.31% or 1.030 points to 79.480.
The top performers on the MDAX were Metro AG ST O.N. (DE:MEOG) which rose 5.81% to 30.665, Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (DE:ZILGn) which was up 3.77% to settle at 22.830 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) which gained 3.72% to close at 29.85.
The worst performers were Salzgitter AG O.N. (DE:SZGG) which was down 4.00% to 23.035 in late trade, Kloeckner & Co SE NA (DE:KCOGn) which lost 0.25% to settle at 8.100 and Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (DE:GWIG) which was down 0.17% to 14.475 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) which rose 3.58% to 49.610, Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was up 3.22% to settle at 10.900 and PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (DE:PSAGn) which gained 3.15% to close at 13.255.
The worst performers were Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which was down 0.85% to 72.240 in late trade, Drillisch AG O.N. (DE:DRIG) which lost 0.62% to settle at 42.240 and LPKF Laser & Electronics (DE:LPKG) which was down 0.55% to 8.205 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 512 to 170 and 37 ended unchanged.
Shares in United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.58% or 1.715 to 49.610.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.65% to 20.84.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.18% or 1.90 to $1071.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.79% or 0.34 to hit $42.53 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.16% or 0.54 to trade at $45.59 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.09% to 1.0633, while EUR/GBP fell 0.37% to 0.7030.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.03% at 99.72.
