Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Utilities, Industrials and Chemicals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.92%, while the MDAX index added 0.70%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.50%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which rose 2.60% or 0.212 points to trade at 8.353 at the close. Meanwhile, BASF SE NA O.N. (DE:BASFN) added 2.29% or 1.520 points to end at 67.980 and RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) was up 2.11% or 0.250 points to 12.095 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (DE:DB1Gn), which fell 1.19% or 0.880 points to trade at 72.800 at the close. Merck KGAA O.N. (DE:MRK) declined 0.43% or 0.370 points to end at 86.480 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) was down 0.19% or 0.140 points to 72.530.
The top performers on the MDAX were Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which rose 4.37% to 82.000, Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which was up 3.51% to settle at 106.050 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which gained 3.29% to close at 54.250.
The worst performers were STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which was down 3.31% to 43.835 in late trade, Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which lost 2.10% to settle at 28.665 and Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which was down 1.36% to 43.480 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which rose 3.91% to 26.860, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was up 2.48% to settle at 59.910 and Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which gained 2.28% to close at 23.37.
The worst performers were Software AG O.N. (DE:SOWG) which was down 2.92% to 31.200 in late trade, Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which lost 1.92% to settle at 38.540 and Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which was down 1.45% to 169.550 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 606 to 274 and 22 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) fell to 5-year lows; down 2.10% or 0.615 to 28.665.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 6.87% to 30.16 a new 3-months high.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.10% or 1.35 to $1286.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.45% or 0.22 to hit $48.27 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.06% or 0.53 to trade at $49.30 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.33% to 1.1244, while EUR/GBP fell 0.14% to 0.7928.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.24% at 94.80.
