Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Software, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Basic Resources sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.25%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.40%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.57%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG), which rose 1.83% or 1.200 points to trade at 66.800 at the close. Meanwhile, Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) added 1.56% or 1.130 points to end at 73.430 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) was up 1.38% or 1.700 points to 124.700 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn), which fell 2.56% or 0.430 points to trade at 16.370 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) declined 1.48% or 0.101 points to end at 6.721 and RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) was down 1.26% or 0.150 points to 11.720.
The top performers on the MDAX were GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which rose 3.23% to 34.370, Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (DE:SY1G) which was up 1.91% to settle at 56.050 and Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which gained 1.59% to close at 82.860.
The worst performers were CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which was down 1.00% to 29.600 in late trade, Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which lost 0.87% to settle at 33.770 and Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was down 0.84% to 4.47 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which rose 3.91% to 18.600, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was up 2.80% to settle at 23.330 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which gained 2.64% to close at 69.190.
The worst performers were Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was down 2.18% to 36.190 in late trade, GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which lost 1.99% to settle at 19.705 and Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was down 1.74% to 31.00 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 495 to 373 and 26 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.77% to 18.67.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.32% or 3.85 to $1183.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $47.92 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.10% or 0.05 to trade at $48.90 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.06% to 1.0559, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.8482.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.01% at 101.72.
