Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Media, Chemicals and Insurance sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.21%, while the MDAX index gained 0.29%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.02%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were BASF SE NA O.N. (DE:BASFN), which rose 1.00% or 0.840 points to trade at 84.700 at the close. Meanwhile, Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn) added 0.90% or 1.55 points to end at 174.15 and Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) was up 0.68% or 0.260 points to 38.265 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p), which fell 0.47% or 0.65 points to trade at 137.30 at the close. Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) declined 0.45% or 0.380 points to end at 83.200 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) was down 0.41% or 0.070 points to 17.020.
The top performers on the MDAX were Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) which rose 6.67% to 67.480, Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which was up 2.87% to settle at 12.88 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which gained 1.88% to close at 66.730.
The worst performers were Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which was down 1.89% to 68.990 in late trade, Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which lost 1.17% to settle at 45.45 and Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which was down 0.80% to 42.28 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which rose 1.88% to 127.15, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was up 1.88% to settle at 24.680 and GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which gained 1.00% to close at 20.665.
The worst performers were Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which was down 1.67% to 229.60 in late trade, Jenoptik AG (DE:JENG) which lost 1.42% to settle at 24.980 and Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which was down 0.87% to 102.500 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 417 to 313 and 31 ended unchanged.
Shares in Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.87% or 0.36 to 12.88. Shares in Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.88% or 2.35 to 127.15.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 3.26% to 13.60.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.12% or 1.50 to $1266.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.78% or 0.39 to hit $50.19 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.63% or 0.33 to trade at $52.84 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.01% to 1.1180, while EUR/GBP fell 0.34% to 0.8702.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 97.28.
