Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Utilities and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 1.59% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index fell 1.55%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Renault SA (PA:RENA), which rose 0.06% or 0.05 points to trade at 78.04 at the close. Meanwhile, Safran SA (PA:SAF) fell 0.10% or 0.07 points to end at 72.73 and Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) was down 0.13% or 0.30 points to 223.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which fell 6.18% or 0.441 points to trade at 6.690 at the close. Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) declined 4.20% or 0.89 points to end at 20.30 and Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) was down 2.94% or 1.81 points to 59.67.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Metropole TV (PA:MMTP) which rose 0.84% to 21.00, Klepierre (PA:LOIM) which was up 0.19% to settle at 37.20 and Natixis (PA:CNAT) which gained 0.17% to close at 5.419.
The worst performers were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) which was down 6.18% to 6.690 in late trade, Innate Pharma (PA:IPH) which lost 5.73% to settle at 10.360 and Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was down 4.56% to 5.860 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 574 to 89 and 63 ended unchanged.
Shares in Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) fell to 3-years lows; losing 4.20% or 0.89 to 20.30.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 6.42% to 28.07 a new 6-months high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.07% or 0.90 to $1291.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.59% or 0.31 to hit $52.34 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.94% or 0.52 to trade at $54.84 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.55% to 1.0701, while EUR/GBP fell 1.00% to 0.8384.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.51% at 99.69.
