Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Gas & Water, General Financial and Foods & Drugs sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.74%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.69%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (EPA:SGOB), which rose 1.81% or 0.99 points to trade at 55.72 at the close. Meanwhile, Veolia Environnement VE SA (EPA:VIE) added 1.43% or 0.38 points to end at 26.99 and Thales (EPA:TCFP) was up 0.61% or 0.70 points to 115.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dassault Systemes SE (EPA:DAST), which fell 2.31% or 0.92 points to trade at 38.66 at the close. Publicis Groupe SA (EPA:PUBP) declined 1.73% or 0.90 points to end at 51.00 and L’Oreal SA (EPA:OREP) was down 1.73% or 5.75 points to 327.35.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were CGG SA (EPA:GEPH) which rose 7.45% to 1.20, Technip Energies BV (EPA:TE) which was up 5.15% to settle at 13.38 and Vallourec (EPA:VLLP) which gained 2.79% to close at 13.84.
The worst performers were Maisons du Monde SAS (EPA:MDM) which was down 4.74% to 11.86 in late trade, Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (EPA:CASP) which lost 4.15% to settle at 17.11 and Trigano SA (EPA:TRIA) which was down 3.17% to 119.00 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 325 to 218 and 88 ended unchanged.
Shares in CGG SA (EPA:GEPH) rose to 52-week highs; rising 7.45% or 0.08 to 1.20. Shares in Maisons du Monde SAS (EPA:MDM) fell to 52-week lows; losing 4.74% or 0.59 to 11.86.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.54% or 10.00 to $1,853.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.68% or 0.81 to hit $119.31 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.85% or 1.02 to trade at $120.53 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.06% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.40% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 102.36.
