France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 1.08%

Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 1.08% to hit a new 5-year high, while the SBF 120 index added 1.02%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI), which rose 4.31% or 0.78 points to trade at 18.87 at the close. Meanwhile, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) added 3.92% or 0.550 points to end at 14.578 and Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) was up 3.38% or 0.79 points to 24.15 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE), which fell 0.77% or 0.180 points to trade at 23.240 at the close. Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY) declined 0.65% or 0.25 points to end at 38.21 and Danone SA (PA:DANO) was down 0.49% or 0.36 points to 73.62.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which rose 6.50% to 2.260, Faurecia (PA:EPED) which was up 5.91% to settle at 46.60 and Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which gained 4.84% to close at 2.425.

The worst performers were Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which was down 3.98% to 52.100 in late trade, Virbac SA (PA:VIRB) which lost 1.60% to settle at 215.00 and Eutelsat Communications SA (PA:ETL) which was down 1.60% to 16.92 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 372 to 210 and 75 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 1.69% to 12.75 a new 3-months low.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.04% or 0.55 to $1511.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.51% or 0.85 to hit $57.05 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.17% or 0.72 to trade at $62.41 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.21% to 1.1141, while EUR/GBP rose 0.21% to 0.8637.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 97.245.
