Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Electric Power, Basic Materials and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 1.69%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4), which rose 12.47% or 0.49 points to trade at 4.42 at the close. Meanwhile, Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) added 8.94% or 1.43 points to end at 17.43 and Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3) was up 8.60% or 4.99 points to 63.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tim Participacoes SA (SA:TIMP3), which fell 3.00% or 0.29 points to trade at 9.37 at the close. Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3) declined 1.62% or 0.25 points to end at 15.15 and BRF SA (SA:BRFS3) was down 1.20% or 0.49 points to 40.45.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 296 to 89 and 26 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 13.01% to 43.79.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.17% or 2.11 to $1254.91 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.15% or 1.06 to hit $50.41 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 1.97% or 2.55 to trade at $132.02 .
USD/BRL was down 3.48% to 3.2529, while EUR/BRL fell 2.61% to 3.6444.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.76% at 97.03.
