Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Electric Power, Consumption and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.40%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5), which rose 9.12% or 1.24 points to trade at 14.84 at the close. Meanwhile, JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) added 5.69% or 0.89 points to end at 16.52 and Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) was up 5.23% or 1.23 points to 24.73 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cia Hering (SA:HGTX3), which fell 22.41% or 4.19 points to trade at 14.51 at the close. Even Construtora e Incorporadora SA (SA:EVEN3) declined 5.49% or 0.25 points to end at 4.30 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) was down 5.26% or 0.33 points to 5.94.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 146 to 127 and 6 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 6.67% to 30.49 a new 6-months low.
Gold for June delivery was up 0.46% or 5.40 to $1187.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.78% or 0.46 to hit $59.40 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 1.78% or 2.35 to trade at $134.03 .
USD/BRL was down 1.61% to 2.9762, while EUR/BRL fell 2.11% to 3.3363.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.15% at 94.87.
