Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Electric Power and Public Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.18% to hit a new 6-months high.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Gerdau SA (SA:GGBR4), which rose 10.86% or 0.66 points to trade at 6.74 at the close. Meanwhile, Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) added 8.93% or 0.20 points to end at 2.44 and Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) was up 4.37% or 0.61 points to 14.58 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3), which fell 8.08% or 0.29 points to trade at 3.30 at the close. Klabin Unt (SA:KLBN11) declined 3.70% or 0.79 points to end at 20.59 and Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA:NATU3) was down 2.97% or 0.83 points to 27.08.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 165 to 132 and 23 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 4.18% to 50.02.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.82% or 10.10 to $1227.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.03% or 0.01 to hit $38.29 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract fell 0.47% or 0.60 to trade at $126.95 .
USD/BRL was down 0.69% to 3.6138, while EUR/BRL fell 0.28% to 4.0975.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.41% at 94.78.
