Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Public Utilities, Electric Power and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.20%.

The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3), which rose 7.08% or 2.43 points to trade at 36.75 at the close. Meanwhile, CCR SA (SA:CCRO3) added 6.61% or 0.97 points to end at 15.65 and Magazine Luiza SA (SA:MGLU3) was up 6.40% or 10.72 points to 178.10 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Raia Drogasil SA (SA:RADL3), which fell 3.09% or 2.01 points to trade at 63.10 at the close. Banco Bradesco SA (SA:BBDC3) declined 2.73% or 1.08 points to end at 38.51 and MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (SA:MRVE3) was down 2.55% or 0.39 points to 14.93.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 243 to 213 and 33 ended unchanged.

Shares in Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) rose to all time highs; rising 7.08% or 2.43 to 36.75.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.18% to 33.96.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.55% or 7.15 to $1310.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 2.25% or 1.17 to hit $53.16 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 0.39% or 0.40 to trade at $103.05 .

USD/BRL was down 1.08% to 3.7207, while EUR/BRL fell 1.00% to 4.2544.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 95.505.
