Bitcoin Investment Trust Company Profile

Bitcoin Investment Trust Company Profile

Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (BTC) is an investment vehicle. BTC enables investors to gain access and exposure to the price movement of bitcoin in the form of a traditional security without buying, storing and safekeeping bitcoin directly. BTC’s purpose is to hold bitcoins, which are digital assets that are created and transmitted through the operations of the peer-to-peer bitcoin network, a decentralized network of computers that operates on cryptographic protocols. The investment objective of BTC is for the shares (based on bitcoin per share) to reflect the value of the bitcoins held by BTC, determined by reference to the bitcoin index price, less the BTC’s expenses and other liabilities. The activities of BTC include issuing baskets in exchange for bitcoins transferred to the BTC as consideration in connection with the creations.

                • Today's fair value, BTC price supposed to be 72K. GBTC has been always trading above NAV. Today the picture is opposite. When the this deep discount will disappear and GBTC shares will trade at least at NAV levels ?
                  0
                  • For what reason it has dropped today 4.7% ? BTC is 0.9% down only.

                    • cuz it is not a good tracking vehicle. This was at $23 when BTC was at $22K now, with BTC is at 63 GBTC is at 53? Nave is rougghly at $62 per share. We will see it move to NAV when Greayscale transfers to EFT.

                  • Looks like the ETF news may have helped the discount situation. Share price is now approximately 4% lower than NAV.

                    • The note continued to state, “When GBTC converts to an ETF, shareholders of publicly-traded GBTC shares will not need to take action and the management fee will be reduced accordingly.”

                            • it was $8 got to 10 last week now 9ish. My guess is that Grayscale will accumulate GBTC then transfer the underlying shares to the newly created etf only when they are the substantiall shareholder. That way they will get a big payout on liquidation. Look what happened to DGAZ when that fund manager closed out.

                            • Right now the share price is $50. I calculate, based on yesterday's BTC per share value and a current value of $58551 per BTC, that the fund currently holds $55.36 of BTC per share.

                            • Oh, I get it now, you're just miscalculating. It wasn't $9 at any point yesterday. If you look Grayscale's website you'll see at yesterday's close there was 0.00094555 bitcoin per share. The day closed at $49.45 per share, with $53.89 of BTC held.

                              • With America (world currency) printing lots of money, inflation around the corner, and everyone getting into BTC, the supply should be strand and the price increasing.  I believe that the disconnection is due to the Gray's model. If Gray doesn't figure this out before there's an alternative, they're done! No one is going to buy something that trades below NAV. It should track the value less expenses. Simple!

                                • A little bit more than average volume today.  Was that some Grayscale buyback in action?

                                • gray  better create something that provides first hand btc because no one is buying second hand bitcoins, if the current efts such as btcc.b that are buying and owning real btc. grayscale is done, since folks would rather own btc vs second hand btc.

                                  • supply/demand, grayscale program is vesting and payouts are getting out faster than they can sell more. with etfs on the way, this arrangement is done! btcc.u is tracking btc, so why own this disconnection?

                                    • btcc.u is tracking btc, this greyscale is disconnected from reality. at this rate they'll be out of business when the usa etf is approved. is gbtc  on sale or going out of business?

                                      • The discount keeps expanding.  Maybe we'll get our money if Grayscale gets t's etf and liquidates the trust assets into the eft.  Maybe that's why they are accumulating GBTC shares

                                      • this discount is brutal.  I do not understand how a trust can trade at such a discount to the underlying intrinsic value.
