whatever the earnings it does not matter, as US is tightening exports to China, which could affect 25% of AMD revenue. outlook will drive price.

Tomorrow is samsungs ER. Memory market collapsing. Good for the Datacenter business, means ddr prices falling. Now the big advantage of NOT having your own fabs comes into play, if the market collapses you dont sit on operation margin losses. AMD basically just looses sales, while Intel has to fight at multiple fronts :D my prognosis, DC in line give or take 2-3%, client group dropped tangible, most likely a tangible miss, but only max half as bad as Intels though. If DC is right on track (and mayb even lifting guidance there) we might not fall that deep. But if DC growths gets halfed this might hurt, very unlikely though. I am very determined DC is on track and maybe even a slight beat is possible. All eyes will be on the guidance. ASPs and margins definately dropped in clients group, but the fall should be softer thanks to steady growth and solid margins in dcg. gl tomorrow.

<< The AI race effect: TSMC's rush of ordersApple, AMD and Nvidia are competing in the AI field, and it is rumored that they have recently placed a rush of orders at TSMC at the same time. The relevant chips will be gradually produced after April, which will make for a positive impact on TSMC's off-quarter operations in Q2.

AMD lost Q3 Q4 market shares...Server market share increased because of Intel RS delay. Sell AMD before you lose money

First of all, server market did not JUST increased because of spr delay, but also because AMD simply has pretty good products as well. Secondly, if you compare sales at MF, you can see, that most of the demand contractions was on Intel. Estimating over all numbers the difference is somewhere around 1:3, when AMD lost one unit in sales intel lost 3. Very rough numbers: Overall sales contracted around 30-35%. most of it was intel bizz. Like I said Intel had built up huge stock inventory, so they were practically only trying to sell build up inventory. AMD build up stock inventory as well, but not as criticial as Intel, and they are not dependet on keeping their fabs under full load, causing either cost or sell pressure. Long story short, AMDs ccg sales will be probably at the very lower end, maybe even 5-10% miss but GMs very likely did not suffer as tough as Intels, because they had except to competition no supply pressure due to build up stock inventory or keeping fabs under full load. This is a critical difference in understanding whats going on. BUT, and here comes the but, sales went down for ccg. Period. The margins did however not suffer as strong as Intels ones during this process. It will not be even of interest how much they sold literally last quarter, because every one knows the macro is tough, but it will be important rather what the guidance will be and if they built up inventory as well and how much. And if they cant just scale up epycs instead of ryzens. Data centers is very very likely barely (if at all) affected by demand contraction (unlike Pat is trying to sell you, frign liar). It will be likely that AMDs dc/server business surpassed in Q4 (or at last Q1) the 50% share of AMDs business for the first time in a long time. CCG will loose with every following quarter importance and impact on the overall business.

That's what I am wondering too. Can they just switch orders just like that, iirc technically only the IO die is different but the chiplets are the same. So how much afford does it take :S However I dont think you can easily change substrate orders just like that. I believe that in the second to-last ER call somebody asked something in the same direction. I think Lisa said there is no real room for pumping up the slope, but that was when consumer demand did not contract yet. Anyhow we shall see. It would be great, if they could just move stuff over there, it would solve the problem of weakening consumer demand very effective while upping margins even further.
