Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology, Basic Materials and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.03%, while the S&P 500 index gained 0.03%, and the NASDAQ Composite index gained 0.19%.

The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Nike Inc (NYSE:NKE), which rose 2.38% or 3.62 points to trade at 155.98 at the close. Meanwhile, Home Depot Inc (NYSE:HD) added 1.26% or 3.97 points to end at 318.25 and Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) was up 1.15% or 1.55 points to 136.33 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Boeing Co (NYSE:BA), which fell 1.75% or 4.19 points to trade at 235.77 at the close. Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) declined 1.51% or 2.66 points to end at 173.91 and Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) was down 1.25% or 0.72 points to 56.76.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Jefferies Financial Group Inc (NYSE:JEF) which rose 7.04% to 34.21, Skyworks Solutions Inc (NASDAQ:SWKS) which was up 4.50% to settle at 190.93 and Qorvo Inc (NASDAQ:QRVO) which gained 4.48% to close at 195.73.

The worst performers were Fox Corp Class A (NASDAQ:FOXA) which was down 3.84% to 36.84 in late trade, Apartment Investment and Management Co (NYSE:AIV) which lost 3.46% to settle at 6.690 and Fox Corp Class B (NASDAQ:FOX) which was down 3.23% to 35.03 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were BSQUARE Corporation (NASDAQ:BSQR) which rose 206.11% to 8.020, Cerevel Therapeutics Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:CERE) which was up 134.69% to settle at 29.50 and Marin Software Inc (NASDAQ:MRIN) which gained 129.47% to close at 17.2100.

The worst performers were DiaMedica Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:DMAC) which was down 33.89% to 4.740 in late trade, ReShape Lifesciences Inc (NASDAQ:RSLS) which lost 28.27% to settle at 5.480 and Mediwound Ltd (NASDAQ:MDWD) which was down 28.01% to 4.060 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1818 to 1345 and 138 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2192 fell and 1268 advanced, while 140 ended unchanged.

Shares in Nike Inc (NYSE:NKE) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.38% or 3.62 to 155.98. Shares in Cerevel Therapeutics Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:CERE) rose to all time highs; rising 134.69% or 16.93 to 29.50. Shares in Marin Software Inc (NASDAQ:MRIN) rose to 3-years highs; up 129.47% or 9.7100 to 17.2100.

The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 1.65% to 16.02.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.06% or 18.85 to $1761.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.66% or 0.48 to hit $73.39 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.66% or 0.49 to trade at $74.63 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.18% to 1.1903, while USD/JPY fell 0.07% to 110.54.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 92.047.

Nobody worried about this super extended manipulated movement? First it was GME and few other meme stocks by retailers, now it's whole market and this time big boys are the manipulators. Why aren't there hearings now like there were for GME??!?
