Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Technology and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.02%, while the S&P 500 index gained 0.07%, and the NASDAQ Composite index added 0.01%.
The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL), which rose 1.69% or 2.96 points to trade at 177.97 at the close. Meanwhile, Visa Inc Class A (NYSE:V) added 1.48% or 3.57 points to end at 244.64 and The Travelers Companies Inc (NYSE:TRV) was up 1.24% or 2.05 points to 166.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were American Express Company (NYSE:AXP), which fell 2.52% or 4.13 points to trade at 159.62 at the close. Boeing Co (NYSE:BA) declined 1.44% or 2.99 points to end at 205.12 and Home Depot Inc (NYSE:HD) was down 1.31% or 4.22 points to 317.18.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Tyler Technologies Inc (NYSE:TYL) which rose 3.99% to 390.36, Rollins Inc (NYSE:ROL) which was up 3.16% to settle at 38.20 and Allstate Corp (NYSE:ALL) which gained 2.10% to close at 111.06.
The worst performers were Moderna Inc (NASDAQ:MRNA) which was down 9.12% to 104.14 in late trade, Incyte Corporation (NASDAQ:INCY) which lost 4.86% to settle at 59.51 and VF Corporation (NYSE:VFC) which was down 4.54% to 17.34 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Digital Transformation Opportunities Corp (NASDAQ:DTOC) which rose 173.33% to 29.00, T2 Biosystms Inc (NASDAQ:TTOO) which was up 65.55% to settle at 0.46 and Avinger Inc (NASDAQ:AVGR) which gained 46.80% to close at 6.07.
The worst performers were Earlyworks Co Ltd ADR (NASDAQ:ELWS) which was down 39.39% to 0.80 in late trade, MSP Recovery Inc (NASDAQ:LIFW) which lost 35.00% to settle at 0.12 and STRATA Skin Sciences Inc (NASDAQ:SSKN) which was down 31.29% to 0.69 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1607 to 1298 and 91 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2266 fell and 1230 advanced, while 123 ended unchanged.
Shares in Incyte Corporation (NASDAQ:INCY) fell to 3-years lows; losing 4.86% or 3.04 to 59.51. Shares in Digital Transformation Opportunities Corp (NASDAQ:DTOC) rose to all time highs; gaining 173.33% or 18.39 to 29.00. Shares in Earlyworks Co Ltd ADR (NASDAQ:ELWS) fell to all time lows; losing 39.39% or 0.52 to 0.80.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 1.52% to 14.00.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.47% or 9.15 to $1,955.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.00% or 0.90 to hit $90.92 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.69% or 0.65 to trade at $94.58 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.34% to 1.07, while USD/JPY fell 0.16% to 147.59.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 104.75.
