Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Iron & Steel and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.05% to hit a new 52-week high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Tri Ocean Text (TW:1472), which rose 9.97% or 1.70 points to trade at 18.75 at the close. Meanwhile, Cameo (TW:6142) added 9.95% or 0.64 points to end at 7.07 and Pao Lung (TW:1906) was up 9.66% or 1.15 points to 13.05 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Jentech (TW:3653), which fell 6.38% or 4.10 points to trade at 60.20 at the close. Generalplus (TW:4952) declined 6.35% or 2.85 points to end at 42.00 and Ite (TW:3014) was down 6.16% or 2.10 points to 32.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 518 to 249 and 85 ended unchanged.

Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.91% or 0.39 to $42.63 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.97% or 0.44 to hit $44.95 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.26% or 3.45 to trade at $1337.85 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.22% to 31.439, while TWD/CNY fell 0.09% to 0.2116.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 96.40.
