Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 1.34%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO), which rose 1.96% or 0.0365 points to trade at 1.8985 at the close. Meanwhile, United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL) added 1.53% or 0.320 points to end at 21.200 and MMC Norilsk Nickel (MCX:GMKN) was up 1.04% or 95.0 points to 9190.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p), which fell 5.17% or 9800 points to trade at 179900 at the close. MTS (MCX:MTSS) declined 3.92% or 10.30 points to end at 252.60 and Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE) was down 3.57% or 109.5 points to 2960.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 121 to 91 and 21 ended unchanged.
Shares in Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO) rose to 3-years highs; up 1.96% or 0.0365 to 1.8985.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 1.62% to 35.860.
Gold for June delivery was down 1.77% or 22.55 to $1251.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.02% or 0.49 to hit $47.70 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.23% or 0.60 to trade at $48.33 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 1.62% to 67.0577, while EUR/RUB rose 1.20% to 75.140.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 95.30.
