Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Power, Mining and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 0.85%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Akron (MCX:AKRN), which rose 2.18% or 80.0 points to trade at 3755.0 at the close. Meanwhile, NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK) added 2.12% or 14.10 points to end at 680.00 and Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRO) was up 1.48% or 13 points to 893 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were FSK EES (MCX:FEES), which fell 5.24% or 0.0067 points to trade at 0.1213 at the close. Magnit (MCX:MGNT) declined 4.02% or 370.0 points to end at 8830.0 and Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) was down 3.65% or 12.10 points to 319.40.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 144 to 75 and 19 ended unchanged.
Shares in NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK) rose to all time highs; up 2.12% or 14.10 to 680.00.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 3.81% to 32.720.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.92% or 11.65 to $1273.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.27% or 0.65 to hit $50.58 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.01% or 0.53 to trade at $51.98 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.87% to 64.1674, while EUR/RUB rose 0.34% to 72.750.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.46% at 94.02.
