Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Power, Telecoms and Manufacturing sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX lost 0.67% to hit a new 3-months low.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Akron (MCX:AKRN), which rose 3.37% or 87.0 points to trade at 2670.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p) added 2.58% or 0.845 points to end at 33.600 and Polyus Gold International Ltd (MCX:PGIL) was up 2.21% or 3.40 points to 157.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Gruppa LSR PAO (MCX:LSRG), which fell 5.13% or 30.0 points to trade at 555.0 at the close. SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) declined 4.50% or 2.79 points to end at 59.18 and Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO) was down 3.93% or 0.0455 points to 1.1115.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 120 to 61 and 8 ended unchanged.
Shares in Akron (MCX:AKRN) rose to 5-year highs; rising 3.37% or 87.0 to 2670.0.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.90% to 34.640.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.99% or 10.80 to $1096.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.23% or 0.59 to hit $47.55 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.64% or 0.90 to trade at $53.73 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 1.50% to 59.245, while EUR/RUB rose 2.55% to 65.894.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.91% at 96.45.
