Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 1.64%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Polyus Gold International Ltd (MCX:PGIL), which rose 5.37% or 7.70 points to trade at 151.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX) added 4.95% or 47.00 points to end at 997.00 and Magnit (MCX:MGNT) was up 4.17% or 436.0 points to 10892.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS), which fell 2.58% or 1.660 points to trade at 62.740 at the close. Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE) declined 2.00% or 41.0 points to end at 2004.0 and Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) was down 1.31% or 0.53 points to 40.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 130 to 68 and 11 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 3.95% to 38.430.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.38% or 4.50 to $1193.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.03% or 1.22 to hit $61.42 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.23% or 0.80 to trade at $65.67 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 1.28% to 52.890, while EUR/RUB rose 0.95% to 59.107.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.73% at 95.84.
