Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Mining, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 0.84%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK), which rose 4.62% or 3.65 points to trade at 82.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) added 3.90% or 25.60 points to end at 682.40 and Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX) was up 3.49% or 45.00 points to 1336.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO), which fell 5.15% or 0.1235 points to trade at 2.2755 at the close. Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) declined 2.17% or 1.80 points to end at 81.20 and Niznekamskneftekhim ao (MCX:NKNC) was down 0.95% or 0.500 points to 52.200.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 124 to 81 and 26 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.20% to 34.940.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.52% or 6.95 to $1317.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 2.07% or 0.96 to hit $47.29 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.88% or 0.90 to trade at $48.67 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 1.41% to 64.5191, while EUR/RUB fell 1.27% to 71.320.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.27% at 96.29.
