Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.83% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Rosneft (MCX:ROSN), which rose 4.68% or 17.35 points to trade at 388.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Gazprom (MCX:GAZP) added 3.69% or 5.64 points to end at 158.63 and Moskovskaya Birzha OAO (MCX:MOEX) was up 3.69% or 4.45 points to 125.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY), which fell 6.00% or 37.50 points to trade at 587.00 at the close. Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) declined 5.58% or 23.30 points to end at 394.00 and Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) was down 3.69% or 37.10 points to 968.90.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 125 to 106 and 15 ended unchanged.

The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 6.40% to 22.930.
Gold for February delivery was up 0.21% or 2.45 to $1164.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 3.09% or 1.59 to hit $53.09 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 3.04% or 1.65 to trade at $55.98 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 2.57% to 60.8876, while EUR/RUB fell 2.07% to 64.566.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.38% at 101.21.
