Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Industrials and Telecoms Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC gained 1.00%.
The best performers of the session on the IPC were Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GCARSOA1), which rose 5.86% or 4.210 points to trade at 75.930 at the close. Meanwhile, Alpek, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALPEKA) added 4.18% or 0.840 points to end at 21.000 and Gruma, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GRUMAB) was up 3.76% or 8.150 points to 226.000 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ohl Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:OHLMEX), which fell 2.88% or 0.660 points to trade at 22.370 at the close. Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX:PENOLES) declined 3.01% or 7.410 points to end at 238.250 and Grupo Financiero Santander Mexico (MX:SANMEXB) was down 1.84% or 0.490 points to 26.150.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 84 to 65 and 8 ended unchanged.
Shares in Gruma, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GRUMAB) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.76% or 8.150 to 226.000.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.04% or 0.50 to $1134.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 6.35% or 2.87 to hit $48.09 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 5.81% or 2.91 to trade at $52.96 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.21% to 16.7251, while EUR/MXN rose 0.11% to 18.7545.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.20% at 95.96.
