Investing.com – India stocks were mixed after the close on Friday, as gains in the Banking, Auto and Power sectors led shares higher while losses in the Consumer Durables, Real Estate and Capital Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.02% to hit a new 6-months high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were AXIS Bank Ltd. (NS:AXBK), which rose 3.49% or 18.30 points to trade at 542.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) added 3.08% or 23.00 points to end at 769.30 and Tata Power Co. Ltd (NS:TTPW) was up 2.28% or 1.65 points to 73.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Idea Cellular Ltd (NS:IDEA), which fell 11.05% or 13.10 points to trade at 105.45 at the close. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) declined 2.20% or 8.05 points to end at 358.15 and State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) was down 1.97% or 3.95 points to 196.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which rose 3.52% to 542.80, Tata Power Co. Ltd (BO:TTPW) which was up 2.43% to settle at 73.85 and NTPC Limited (BO:NTPC) which gained 2.04% to close at 147.80.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 2.12% to 358.20 in late trade, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which lost 2.02% to settle at 196.50 and Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which was down 1.83% to 104.60 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 843 to 594 and 58 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 931 fell and 642 advanced, while 56 ended unchanged.
Shares in Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.08% or 23.00 to 769.30. Shares in NTPC Limited (BO:NTPC) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.04% or 2.95 to 147.80.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.61% to 14.9950 a new 3-months low.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.09% or 1.05 to $1213.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $49.19 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.12% or 0.06 to trade at $50.10 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.05% to 67.326, while EUR/INR fell 0.08% to 74.9810.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 95.61.
