Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Banking, Real Estate and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.42% to hit a new 3-months low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.59%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL), which rose 5.80% or 100.80 points to trade at 1,839.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) added 3.80% or 24.85 points to end at 679.35 and Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) was up 2.98% or 81.80 points to 2,827.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which fell 1.96% or 15.15 points to trade at 756.65 at the close. IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) declined 1.85% or 19.65 points to end at 1,044.35 and Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI) was down 1.71% or 38.90 points to 2,237.05.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which rose 3.03% to 2,829.40, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was up 2.07% to settle at 108.65 and Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which gained 1.76% to close at 2,398.05.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 2.00% to 756.40 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which lost 1.85% to settle at 1,044.25 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 1.74% to 2,236.85 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1068 to 835 and 63 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1900 fell and 1497 advanced, while 123 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.48% to 16.30 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.13% or 2.55 to $1,913.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.25% or 0.18 to hit $71.15 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.22% or 0.17 to trade at $77.28 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.53% to 82.73, while EUR/INR fell 0.29% to 88.01.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.66% at 103.90.
